A handwoven walls velvet inspired by the magnificent design of the bronze and iron portal of the Madison Belmont Building in New York. It shows the motif of spirals and stylized fountains – clean and modern lines so dear to Art Deco – and golden yellow details that reflect the opulence of this artistic movement.

A 1920’s art inspired tote bag

The Madison Belmont Building was built as a benchmark for luxury lovers housing office and showroom space for silk companies in the developing Silk District of mid-town Manhattan. The portal, one of the first instances of Art Deco design in the United States, was created with great technical virtuosity by Edgar Brandt in the early 1920s. Brandt, one of the greatest exponent of Art Deco metal work, was told to obtain his inspiration from the ancients and interpret them in forms that were more suggestive of the modernity and dynamic force of those days. Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion. The intention was to create a sleek and unconventional elegance that symbolized wealth and sophistication which has inspired some of our textiles.

Just as Art Deco wanted to express beauty through sophisticated decorations, so this tote is a celebration of aesthetics and the pleasure to possess and always carry a piece so unique and precious.

Madison is a wide and roomy tote with useful internal compartments and leather handles enriched by metal details. The ideal companion of all daily activities, whether they are a hectic day full of business appointments or a relaxing afternoon of shopping with girlfriends. It is an essential accessory to treasure useful and dearest belongings.
