The Mechanical Production of Animalier Velvets

Heddle velvets are made on mechanical looms in which the use of special iron needles, called “heddle rods,” is reminiscent of handwork, thus expressing the highest craftsmanship in this type of velvet.

Even in mechanical production, the work of the weaver is essential in preparing the loom, in following the production at every stage, and ensuring that the quality is always excellent. Therefore, long and careful training goes hand in hand with the weaver’s indispensable talents of patience and passion.
