Characteristics of the “Giardino Fioroni” pattern
The pattern of the Giardino Fioroni soprarizzo velvet is inspired by the French and Italian velvets of the second half of the 17th century. In fact, both the variety of plants and flowers represented, whose volumes are deliberately exaggerated and full-bodied, and their placement, are typical of the Baroque period.
On a lighter background, thick twisted and curling plant stems stand out with leaves, shoots, ornamental beads, and coral encrustations. From them, twigs of roses, bellflowers, and jasmine climb up, creating a frame within which a floral composition of parrot tulips and large rosebuds triumphs, with a large peony and a bouquet of bindweed on top.
Thanks to the special processing of the soprarizzo, which we spoke about in this article, the cut hair appears to the eye darker than the curly one, giving the design a three-dimensional effect. Moreover, the silk pile, depending on how the light reflects on it, becomes iridescent and seems to have different shades of color.
