Among animalier patterns, leopard is perhaps the most beloved. Timeless in home decor and fashion, although reinvented in color and size of the design, it’s ideal for any season.
Leopardo Velvet
Our Leopardo velvet was created in collaboration with Iris Apfel in the 1950s. The aesthetic beauty of this decorative motif is combined with the extraordinary characteristics of velvets such as the softness and shine of the pile.
Originally made in the classic mix of warm savannah tones, brown, yellow and beige, we have interpreted it in multiple color variations to embrace the most diverse interior design projects.
The result is the elegant black and white combination of gardenia; lively tones such as egeo, ibisco, green shiné and red shiné; softer colors such as antique gold, desert sand, pink and finally delicate colors, just hinted on a light background such as stone, baltico and peonia with shades of gray, green and pink respectively.
Leopardo velvet is extremely eclectic. When combined with contemporary interiors it gives character and originality to an entire room with a sofa, an armchair, or decorative cushions. But also tastefully mixed with other patterns, colors and materials it can create an amazing interior style which is sumptuous, vital and pleasantly excessive.
But furniture is not the only world that loves this velvet.
Our Lepardo Velvet Handbags
Among the handbags featured in our catalog, unique pieces made in Italy by skilled artisans, there are some models created with our Leopardo velvet. In particular, we have chosen this fabric for the Antonia bag in peonia color and for the Caterina bowler in gardenia color, a refined black and white.
The Antonia bag has an original round shape, with a long shoulder strap in soft leather. Small but spacious enough to carry the essentials, it is a lively and ironic yet sophisticated accessory, perfect for adding a touch of understated elegance to a casual or more formal outfit. Antonia is also offered in other velvet variants, but in the leopard pattern it manages to combine the liveliness of the animal print with the refinement of the peonia color, a light background with very light pink shades that soften the black spackled pattern. It was inspired by Antonia Masanello, the only woman who, pretending to be a man, joined the troops of Italian patriot Garibaldi to fight on the front lines for the unification of Italy in 1860.

The Caterina bowler is the perfect everyday accessory to infuse any outfit with timeless elegance. Its shape is clean, classic and curvy. A versatile bag with unique simplicity and sophistication. Its minimalist aesthetic combines perfectly with Leopardo velvet in gardenia, a black speckled with white background, for a dynamic and bold look. Paired with an elegant dress or a casual tee and jeans, this bag is a unique piece that is sure to impress. It owes its name and lavish style to Caterina Cornaro, a member of one of the richest and most influential families of the Serenissima aristocracy, who became queen in 1474 by marrying James II, King of Cyprus and Armenia.

Whether contemporary or classic interior design projects, Leopard velvet is always a source of inspiration and in all its color variations it always manages to add a touch of great personality and aesthetic beauty. Just as it does for fashion accessories, matching and enhancing any style, either casual or elegant.
